22, 2011Hey Flash fans, we're still around and just in time for the holidays. Something I love about Christmas Day is that movie theaters are always open when you're bored sitting around with the family. I always go out with them and friends and relax with a movie. Luckily they put cool stuff up with the pure holiday cheer movies. If you haven't seen Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, do yourself a favor and go see it this week. If the first one was up your alley, then have no fear, RDJ and company deliver in full force. I would watch 10 more of these if they made 'em. From the previews, I was concerned if it was going to be too Guy Ritchie but this movie showed to me that there is no such thing. Some over the top Ritchie shot happens like every 3 minutes in this flick and it never gets old. It's a visual feast with Holmes, Watson and Moriarty dominating center stage with the music composer of The Dark Knight and Gladiator. Pure win. Since I've already seen that, I'll likely check out the new Mission Impossible with my dad. He was always a big James Bond guy growing up and the MIs really deliver on that style in my opinion. I believe at one point the Missions were better than the 007s and forced MGM to step up their game to make bad ass Bond films again. Interestingly, Brad Bird helms this new one and he is an animation guy that directed the Incredibles and Iron Giant. At least I'll know I'm going into something that's cool, fun and has heart. Perfect ingredients for Christmas time. Have a good one gang, I'll seeya when I seeya! Final Mobile Flash Update released by Adobe ![]() By Chad Sweely December has marked the final release of mobile Flash Player, which Adobe does not see as worthwhile anymore. This release, 11.1, features many bug fixes and enhancements, and now allows people using Android 4.0 to be able to use various flash based games and videos. Apparently, Adobe will continue to release security updates and other fixes for the product, but no new full versions. Don't be too discouraged, asAIR (Adobe Integrated Runtime) is not going away anytime soon, and it uses a version a flash internally. AIR is there to help developers continue to make fantastic flash content for Android, iOS, and various other supported mobile platforms. Just to clarify things for worried users, Tom Nyugen, SR Product Manager for the Flash Runtime, has said “As we’ve mentioned before, we’re focusing on enabling amazing Flash based experiences via apps on phones and tablets, and this release will be the last major version of the mobile browser plug-in.” As I mentioned before with AIR, what this really means is that Flash is not really going away, it just wont be released again as a browser plug-in, which should be fine for most people, as there are apps for basically any Flash you could want in the browser anyway. For Nyugen's full announcement, please visit the Adobe siteand get informed. Remember, there is nothing to worry about for the vast majority of mobile users, this is just in reference to the browser plug-in. You may have to shell out a little bit more money for certain content that may have been free before, but times change, especially in the tech world.
