April 2, 2010

I'm just gonna go ahead and begin the Iron Man hype with the extremely cool viral site, Stark Expo 2010. Posing as a technology expo that actually exists, it's a great site to get that hype machine into full gear. From the looks of the trailer, it seems like IM2 is going to every bit live up to expectations. Oh, and you can also go ahead and thank me for this Black Widow wallpaper and this War Machine one. Rockin' the Widow one myself up in hyah.

I also stumbled across this sweet particle physics flash demo with brilliant colors that pour onto the screen that you can manipulate with these hoop modules placed around the screen. Prepare for a psychedelic visual feast called Stardust.

The last site is the personal Art of Tim Burton. It's kind of a breath of fresh air if you're a little too saturated with the weirdo Johnny Depp meets Michael Jackson style in his recent movies. This concentrates on Burton's art that you can tell his films pull from. I'm actually more interested in this than his latest film work.

Stefan Richter is with us with his article about some Flash Media List goodies.

Happy weekend!

New Flash Media List Materials

By Stefan Richter

Some new materials have just surfaced on the Flash Media List, they include a presentation on RTMFP by Matthew Kaufman. Matthew gave this presentation on Wednesday, March 24 2010 to the IETF. An audio recording is available for download via FTP here (the RTMFP part starts about 1 hour into the recording).

Interestingly, the presentation also contains an IPR disclosure which in turn contains a mention to 'unpublished pending patent applications'. Matthew noted that these applications are 'are where all the interesting stuff is, of course.' It's clear that Adobe is protecting its intellectual property around RTMFP.

Check out the slides by accessing the full article here (sorry about the Flash runtime error caused by Sideshare's player...).

I'm not pretending that I understand even half of the presentation's contents, yet it'll be great to see this technology evolve. Let's hope Adobe approaches it's eventual pricing sensibly.
