January 22, 2010One of our featured sites of the week is for the Bruce Willis flick Surrogates, due out for video release next week. I got a chance to check this out recently and I gotta say, it was a decent sci-fi flick. It heavily pulled from Terminator, Matrix, Ghost in the Shell type movies, which did what they do better, but I thought it was good enough to warrant it existing. For some reason, there wasn't a lot of interest for this movie but I decided to give it a go and was happy I did. The themes and visuals aren't anything you haven't seen but I claim there is still entertainment value to be had. Another site is hyping the new 3D televisions dropping on the consumer market this year. I'm just going to go ahead and pretend they don't exist because I dont anticipate a decently sized one being affordable for over 5 years or so. Maybe some day we can have Jaws jump out and bite our heads like it did Marty McFly. This week Stefan's got some dev news about video and flash chats. Mark Rivera For any site suggestions or general musings, gimme a shout at mark@flashnewz.com And don't forget to check out our Flash Directory |
Solid Sci-Fi entertainment. |

Flash Chat Framework ![]() By Stefan Richter I've just received an interesting email from Jaromir Sivic, a czech developer who sent me news about a project of his called 'Radical Flash Chat'. While I haven't tried myself yet, Jaromir describes it as a framework that enables PHP and ASP.NET developers to build and manage their own Video Chats, Flash Chats and other multimedia videconferencing applications easily in a very short amount of time. The configuration screen certainly looks quite promising, listing both Wowza and Red5 as a Media server option. There's also an online demo that you can try (that's if it is online, which seems to be fairly intermittent). I encourage you to try Jaromir's product and share your feedback with him, or indeed below in the comments. I'm happy to post any news about similar projects or other news items, just drop me an email.
