I think we can call today's edition the Frivolous Friday collection... This is based solely on the sites being featured today and if you take a look, you'll see why I'm calling it that.

For those of us that appreciate eye candy (and Kylie Minogue) wrapped in a spectacular use of the Flash medium, then check out H&M - an Aussie clothier that decided to make Ms. Minogue the centerpiece of their Spring/Summer collection... which is something our male readers can support, anyway (if there are female readers here, I'm certainly not trying to leave you out).

The second site being featured in today's frivolous edition takes a look at Lotus' impressive new vehicle. As with most sites of this nature, Flash is being used to show-off just what kind of car you are looking it. There is an impressive "splash" screen when the site is loaded and it features a video of the Lotus in action (0-60 in 4.1 seconds). If you like fantasizing about cars you probably won't own, definitely check out what Lotus has going on.

Our last site of the day - a site that further solidifies our commitment to frivolity - is for the movie Knocked Up. If you are a fan of the 40-Year Old Virgin, you'll probably be pretty hyped to see Knocked Up.

The site features a number of interactive stations including a short video clips and NSFW trailers (strong language). I also enjoy their use of refrigerator poem magnets as navigation buttons. Take a look at what the Knocked Up crew has to offer and make sure you check out the trailers and the clips as well. If you like comedic movies, Knocked Up should be right up your alley.

Enjoy the issue and we'll see you next week.

Featured Sites:

H&M

The site is for H&M but the focus is on Kylie Minogue and that's good enough for me. Added bonus: the design team makes really awesome use of Flash transitions.

H&M

Knocked Up

Knocked Up looks like an incredibly funny movie so it would make sense they have an entertaining Flash site to along with it. Full of clips, trailers, and other interactive content.

Knocked Up

Lotus

There is something about high performance cars that scream for awesome Flash web sites to show off their capabilities. Lotus understands this and delivers a great showroom floor.

Linux Server Tool To Convert FLV To WAV

Stefan Richter By: Stefan Richter

It seems that the longest ever thread in the forums is starting to bear some fruit.

Nellynomore (I love that name) is a Linux tool which can convert FMS recorded FLV audio/video to WAV, which you can then convert further to MP3 or whatever sound format you prefer.

Nellynomore has been developed by Mike Benham of thoughtcrime.org and it is available as a free download. You can find more info on it here.

Once again this goes to show what happens if you push developers into a corner - they find a way out of it. the current state of FLV audio codecs is not great to put it mildly with Nellymoser holding us to ransom as soon as we want to escape the dreaded FLV audio format.

A Windows utility also exists and I am hoping to cover this shortly. Watch this space.

Help with Flash Decompiler/Changing Text

I recently took over a site for a friend of a friend and they need a simple address change made. The thing is, the entire site is done in Flash. Two problems:

1)I downloaded the site from the server and of course there are no .fla files.

2) I haven't worked on any site using Flash in years, although I do have Flash 8 as part of the Dreamweaver 8 Suite.

Now to the first problem, I downloaded a Flash decompiler and was able to convert the index.swf so I can see the text file. Is there an easy way to get in and just fix one text file without messing up all of the other files? I've read through the help files of the decompiler and am just getting more confused. The web site is: http://www.osvaldofreitas.com/

This seems like it should be so simple but it's making me feel like a dope!!! I appreciate any and all help you can give me.
